I"m very sure that someone just hacked my steam account. I got an random msg on steam from someone in bad girls fan club community telling me that I could Steam users were now getting 3 free Nvida games from steam. The message gave me a link, I followed the link and entered in data and 10 minutes later... I was logged out of my steam... When I tried to log in it said login to steam failed because the account does not exist or the passward wa wrong! I'm not sure what to do... I tried retrieve my account but I havn't recieved an email for it! All my icons for the games are still there but without steam I can't play them... I dont know what to do... What do I do! I fear I've just lost a great portion of the games on my computer...

With this development I will not be able to be an admin for ZPS unless my account is recovered... If it isn't, I will not be able to play ZPS ever again... my half life account is on there, and I aint going to rebuy every game I would lose... If thats the case... Its been fun playing with ya'll... I shall miss playing with you all... Maybe you'll remember me for awhile until I'll simply fade into the background as a past admin...

to reclaim your steam account.

Your account has been hijacked. That link you entered was a fake site. When your inserted your data, it was sent to someone which used it to change the password and possibly, the email. NOW DONT PANIC.

I have been through a similar situation myself and to get back is simple and quite quick. Do you have the credit card info or the payment info you used to buy the games? If so, write ASAP a email to Valve support.

Send this email inmediately so that account damages can be prevented. Good Luck to you. Also, to any friend of Phantom Virus: DO NOT ACCEPT ANY SORT OF LINKS OF THE SUCH. Fake links such as www.xxxfreegamessteam.com (not a real link) are scam sites. They appear to be Steam Official when they are not. Once you enter your Log In info, your account is hijacked. Steam offcial Sites are www.steamcommunity.com, www.support.steampowered.com and the such. And other sort of links are scams. When you receive a link in the Steam chat windows, if its NOT a steam official site, a message with an alert pops up warning you that the site you are entering is NOT steam Official. SO, friend of Phantom, do not accept any links from him until he gets his account back. I would sugggest blocking communication for now.

So Phantom, send the email to Valve and the retrieving should take, at the most, 3-4 days. Do it now if possible.

I've sent them the email, so far I havn't received a response yet. I gave them the credit card info they needed plus my cd key to orange box. Don't know how long it will take till they respond...

Ok what i am about to show you some of you already know.


1. At the top of your steam in the left hand corner you will see "file" click on it

2. In the drop down menu select "settings"

3. In the menu that pops up click "change contact email"

4. follow the instructions and enter your email.

What this does is if you or somebody else tries to change your password it sends a verification code to your email which you must use in order for the changes to take affect.

This should prevent your account getting taken and it is very easy to do. I am tired of everyone getting hacked/phished by retarded links at least take the time to do this and you can click away all you want with no fear.

Good news, steam just sent me an email saying they'll deal with the problem in 26.2 hours... Guess I won't be playing zps tomorrow... oh well. Thanks for trying to help, on my other forum ppl just loled that I got hacked...

the same thing happend to me and i got myne back trust me dude steams cool about this stuff and u will get ur account back but what happend with my steam acc the guy who hacked it deleted all my past friends and left all my clans so expect there to be some damage and P.S the fucker who stole ur account cant delete ur games

I don't want to sound like a dick but you fell for the oldest trick in the book. Mind you that it is the oldest trick in the book because it works. Moonflute also had some trouble with the same thing too.

Yea. moonflute gave me the hijacker user too. my account was stolen also because of moonflute. but i got my account back 3 hours later. He got his account back within a day or so. I don't see any reason why they aren't responding back. they should get back to you instantly or so.

Now you know Phantom and knowing is half the battle. I hope that when you filled out the Data to that fishing site you didn't include your social, credit card information, and such. Well good luck getting your account back.
